Default will a key fob from a diff car work?

Ok, well my dad has an extra key fob from his truck, part number and everything is the same, can i program this key fob to work on my camaro? wat about one from my brothers 00 ws6? will it work on my 99 camaro? part # and everything like that is the same.

go to install documents, then additional key fob remotes. it wouldnt hurt to try

As long as the part #'s match they will work in both cars.

Different fobs will work as long as the PN and FCCID numbers are the same.

I don't see why it wouldn't work if the part number is the same.

That's a good link for the instructions. I remember I actually paid a few dollars on ebay a few years back for the instructions. Dang internet entrepreneurs trying to make some money!

The only thing I could see maybe happening is using that fob to lock your car might lock the truck too if they are next to each other

Wonder if you program both vehicles at the same time if the same fob will work will work for both?

You can program a fob from a different car. There are instructions in the manual. I just did this the other day actually, saved me $30 over buying a new one. Plus if you just purchased a used car I would reprogram the fob/s just so you know there the only ones programmed to your car. Might just be paranoia but better safe than sorry.

No not really but that's just the remote, there can always be extra keys out there...

Changing locks gets expensive. And my car only came with one set of keys. At least I know the other set is probably 2hours away where I bought the car

yes for everybodies info. Different key fobs from diff GM cars will work as long as they have same part number!
