Default remote start rarely works

when I hit the remote start on my firebird i had installed a few months ago, it doesn't always crank up, it tries to but the car doesn't stay on. it's fine with starting the car with the key. the car has a battery with a walmart sticker on it from the other owner, I'm guessing the cheapest battery they had, do u think I need a better battery? I bought the warranty or 2 year protection thing when they installed the alarm/remote start so I guess I can take it back to them, but what should I tell them to do to it? wire it better or something?

if you have a warranty for whoever installed it i would take it into them and just explain what it is doing if your car is starting fine with the key i would say the battery is good. the problem is somewhere within the remote start system. They will be able to figure it out.

they cant just hook it up to the starter, you have to bypass the ignition there are quite a few things that could be wrong could be a module or relay or wiring or just the remote start module itself with a warranty i would let them deal with it because if you mess with it you could void it out.

Try putting the key in the ignition, do not turn the key forward. Try to remote start the car. If this works fine, you have a bad bypass.

If it's trying to start and doesn't like you said, I'd say it's a problem with the tach wire. Sounds like the remote start is stopping the starter before the car is really started.
