something whistling
I've had a belt squeak issue for a while, so i would always use that belt dressing stuff, and for a while it would work. I recently put an SLP LM2 exhaust on my car. At no point did i ever open the hood and touch the belts, intake, etc. throughout the whole catback install. After firing it up and starting to drive it, i notice a whistling sound above 3k RPMs under moderate to heavy acceleration. It sounds like a turbo spooling up or a twinscrew. I figured it was the belts again. So yesterday I changed both the A/C and Powersteering belts. All the belts squeak is gone, however the whistling sound above 3k rpms is still there, just not as loud as before. Before i put the belts on, i spun every pulley to make sure everything was aligned and moving alright. I have no idea where this sound is coming from, and its definitely not an exhaust leak because the sound is coming directly from the front of the car. What could be the problem?

my car whistles when i punch it from 3k and up, everyones car does. its the air going into the car through the lid/tb/intake. maybe because of the cb its more distinctive now? idk man just a thought.

Check your vacuum lines, I had a whistling on my old 93 taurus a few years ago when I still had it and a rubber vacuum fitting had rotted and was leaking. Replaced that and the whistling went away.

It could be your throttle body. I have a mti polished one and at idle there is a slight whistle and when i rev it ithe whistle gets louder. The air coming in to the intake through the throttle body would be my guess.

thanks for the help guys, i'm gonna look over the vacuum lines and AIR/EGR stuff and check it out...hopefully it is just the intake sound...before i put this catback on i was running no muffler for a while and never noticed the whistling, now with the catback, its like holy shitballs ...

my whistling
I had a whistle after reinstalling my engine after the blow up. it would only whistle (or able to hear the whistle) fromm 2k down to idle. it sounded like a turbo spooling come to find out it was the smog pump infront of the drivers side fender for emissions making the noise because i no longer have any emissions hooked up. all i did was unplug the wire harness going to the pump directly on the pump itself and away the whistle went. hope this helps i know how annoying a whistle or a squeak can be it aggravates the **** out of me.

check both of your belt tension pully if your smog pump is not the culprit. I had that issue. I sprayed some lub on one pully at a time ( 2 ea) found the bottom one to be bad. even though I loosened the belt to check it, the pully felt good. not loose at all....

well, it actually is a small exhaust leak. its coming from where the stock i-pipe is clamped to the SLP bullet muffler (loudmouth 2)...i'll be getting headers and a y pipe around christmas, but in the meantime, is there anything i can do to lessen the leak or seal it off without welding it. the SLP inlet is 3 inches, and stock i-pipe is 2.75...i figured i'd have some issues with that. what can/should I do? i dunno if i can take this sound for 2 months.
