I'm getting just over 23mpg around town! stop & go traffic, but it doesn't seem to change much cruising at around 80mph, 23.49 was last I got & my gauge shows multiple miss fires on all cylinders while driving! 95octane, they sell 99 at the pump, cost aside, would I see a difference in milage?

Actually, I JUST looked at the manual ("2001 Firebird") and it sure does say 16.5 gal... I guess I shouldn't go off my bad memory

I think he understands that. I usually put in 12.5, 13 max. I end up with around 12 mpg. Stalled auto's aren't known to have good gas mileage. My buddies 402 LS2 6 speed gets waaay better mileage than mine.

I love how these gauges can read below E for several miles and when I go to put in gas I can only get 14 something gallons in it....so there's still about two gallons left in the tank! I guess that cuts down on stranded Fbodys that have run out of gas

Yeah definately! if your not using this method you are cutting yourself short. Just look at what the pump says your putting in and use that number. Personally I say nothing is really wrong I think your about average with your set up.

dang you get some crappy mileage. I got that bad once, then checked my air filter, and it was beyond dirty. cleaned it up, put it back in, instantly noticed more power, and then started getting 230+ city.

Ok, filled up the other day... 13.622 gallons on the pump.
Tripometer read 228...

228/13.622 = 16.7 mpg

This was on city/highway(although I hesitate saying highway as the speed limit is 50mph). Nonetheless, it's what I would call "normal" daily driving around the city. Still nowehere CLOSE to 20mpg...

I always thought my mileage was bad around town! seems to drain fuel quicker than it did, maybe down to mods & not being tuned.
But my my g/f drives this car a lot & she says it's because women are lighter footed than guys.

sorry I was out of town so I didnt see this. I don't need to do a search thanks. Really all I was saying is your gas mileage is all how you have your ride set up that he may have to demod to get it to go up. Sorry who ever said they got 30mpg but I've never seen it happen. and no way in heck mine gets even close to that maybe 18 - 20 highway and 15 city but I'm not worried about it though. Thats why I have 2 cars.

I've had two f-bodies both autos a 2.73 and a 3.23 the Firehawk with 3.23 gets a good 4to 6 less mpg on the open road. I was really surprised at the difference. It's like the motor has a sweet spot where it makes good power, torque and mileage and if your not cruising in that range your mileage drops.
