Default New Car

Hey Guys, I just bought my first LS1 Car. I had a 1997 WS.6 LT1 with all boltons and a cam, but now I moved on to the LS1. Its a 2001 WS.6 6speed with 52k on her. Only mods are magnaflow catback ,whisper lid and filter. I have yet to drive it because I am in Iraq for a little longer. I am really looking forward to keeping it very daily friendly but would like to be in high 12's any more suggestions to get her there? I know the LS1 cars are stronger and underrated by GM so I dont even have a guess where I would be now.Thanks.

Congrats on the buy brother. I too bought my car wail overseas, and had it waiting for me on terminal leave. IT WAS AWESOME. For high 12's I would say LS6 intake, port TB, and headers. That should get you there no problem with some good traction. Best of luck with the car man.

It should already have an LS6 intake if its 01 shouldn't it?

You have a lid, filter, and catback. my buddy did 12.99 at 108 in his 02 M6 WS6 with a lid and filter.

So this car being a 01 it most likely already has the LS6 intake on it? How come they were not rated with a little more power?

Just add full exhaust and you should have no problem hitting high 12's. Good luck!

Yup, get your throttle body ported, long tube headers and a y-pipe, then either get a power programmer or dyno tune to finish it up. You'll end up with a nice reliable high 12's daily driver.

01 Will have a LS6 intake, but I milder cam.

Get a Catless Y with some headers.
Nice fresh tires in back.
Port the throttle body your self.

Get a mail order tune or get a quality programmer, I would still suggest HP Tuners or EFI Live. If you get a programmer get a Diablo, not the worthless POS Power Programmer< It does absolutely nothing.

It will run a 12. . . . . .

Good luck ! . . . . later.

You may already be there but headers + tune and you will hit it all day long. I promise you will want more though

Thanks guy, headers are what I figured, and can't wait to do. I had Pacesetter LTs on my LT1 but I hear Texas Speed has some nicer LTs. Any opinions? And samson what all does the porting the TB at home consist of?

The TSP 1 7/8 headers I have read are a bitch to install so I would research it first to make sure you want to deal with the hassle.

You can get your TB ported for $60-$75 on here by someone with experience so I would look into that. It's not really hard to do but if you have never done it before it is easy to F up.
