speedometer

I recently bought a 99 z28 6 speed and I noticed that my speedometer is off..when I am going 30 it says 24....my car came stock with the 3.42 gear ratio..The only thing that it can be is that my gears were changed right? and what do I need to do to fix the problem?

What about rims and tires? And you can take it to a shop to edit your cars computer fro the right thing whether its rims and tires or gears.

yea thats what i was thinking too, mines a 2000 ws6 with 18s i wonder if mines off any?

unless you have smaller tires so the rim/tire sit the same height as stock then its possible

If the guy you bought it off of ever messed with the gauge overlay he might of put the needle on a little bit off. Mines 5mph of because of that, but its the good way. So when it says I'm doing 30 I'm only doing 25.

no, the higher the mph the more its off...if the speedometer says im going 20 im really going 14, then if the speedometer says 80 im really going 66

Try some different gear ratios at www.f-body.org/gears and get someone next to you on the highway at steady speed.

i already did the gps, my speedometer said 20 and gps said 16...speedometer said 80 and gps said 66
