OMG HELP!!! Catastrophic problem!

Definately an Internal engine issue. There are many other things than a TP sensor that can cause a flashing CES light. If it is ticking, 1st easy check is an exhaust leak. If no exhaust leaks, listen for the speed of the tick. If it is equal to the engine rpm, ie fast, it is probably a rotating assembly issue, ie. crank, rods, pistons. If it is 1/2 as fast as the engine rpm's, definately a valve train noise. A good trued and tried TECHNICIAN'S trick is to use a mechanics stethascope to listen to the noise. If you do not have one, use a long screwdriver. Start the car and put the screwdriver against the valve cover over every cyl. and move along until the noise gets much louder. That will pin point which cyl. If you can not do this, find a good shop, or good friend with enough knowledge, to help you out. Good luck.

Perhaps an easy check would be to PULL plugs and see which cylinders are acting up, then as a guide follow to the appropriate rockers and inspect the valves. Jury rig to start and observe. A compression check is a good idea too. To me though, it sounds like tear down time. I've driven with 2 plugs off and while a little rough, barely triggered the misfire code.

Turned out to be #1 cylinder pushrod broken in half. RPM in Garner NC did a second compression test on her #1 cyl and put in a new pushrod for $180. she runs great again. Thanks for all the help everyone!

as far as I know the basic rule of thumb is that white smoke is coolant. someone posted about a car with blown head gaskets causing his problem. blown head gasket, white smoke, poor performance, kinda makes since, right?

From: Grande Prairie, AB. That's Canada you hoser.
I was going to say that if its a head problem, there are plenty of stock heads floating around here... hell I have a pair that I couldn't sell for 100 bucks.
Check installuniversity.com and ls1howto.com for some relatively straight forward mechanical how-to write ups.
I did my heads and cam swap using the write up on ls1howto.com and I know bugger all about internal engines.

After reading this I'm a go unplug 2 wires show my wife this whole write up minus this part and be like **** its going to cost hundreds babe, but I got to have my car! Then buy a rear-end cause she'll never notice a new rear end...she'll probably be like why does it ride different, ill say **** u noticed...I need a new rear-end...then ill buy heads...lmao this could work...with catastrophic consequences if she finds out!!!! but it could be worth it...!?!?!? MUhahahaha
