You can get it deleted out with a tune but if if you unhook/remove you won't pass visual if they look for it.

And it will not cause a backfire to my knowledge. It basically only runs at startup to help with emissions until the car is warm.

Why do you think it causes a backfire?

yea I've read somewhere that the AIR can cause backfires. Mine is gone and from what I've heard yes if you get the code tuned out you will pass inspection as long as there is no visual. Thats how it is where I live they dont really seem to give a ****, they just plug in the obd2 thing and thats it. They did'nt even open my hood or check to see if all my lights work lol

DON'T DELETE ANY CODES!

Go with O2 Sims. They can detect the thrown codes but the Sims pass (with the exception of visuals).

I was with a buddy when he failed for deleting codes. If their computer (OBDII) can't find the appropriate code you autmatically fail.

Also, may sound dumb but don't drive in there with you Check Engine Soon light on... auto-fail... i've heard from numerous guys (with mostly imports) explaing how they didn't see that onecoming...

Sims will pass. I think we're talking about OBDII only. If you don't have cats on your car it's not gonna matter whether you have O2 sims or not... YOU FAIL.

This is true. By the VIN number the tester knows what should be present and what should not. Hell, a friend 2000 TA failed after he installed a engine/PCM from a 02 Z28. They said the PCM was showing the EGR not ready. Long story short, after proving the engine was from a 2002 (VIN in PCM)he was allowed to pass on a waiver.

A good tuner doesn't "delete" codes, you simply turn the reporting for them off.

It will pass with reporting turned off.

Information about this is best to be had in the PCM Diagnostics & Tuning section.

Also, a Readiness Test is not code reporting. You cannot tune out readiness tests. But, there are ways to trick the PCM into passing them.

hmmm very interesting, so if i have no engine check light and say I have no code errors on my obd2 but some of the codes were deleted, they would know that and fail me?
