Default Basics of nitrous

Ok i know this is going to sound stupid to some of you but i am very curious about the difference between a wet shot nitrous setup and a dry shot.I don't know the difference and i am trying to learn as much as i can about it right now before i blow something up down the road.Any information you guys have would be greatly apreciated.

Im not sure about this, but I think a dry sys. is where the nitrous is injected b/f the MAF and is not mixed with fuel and wet sys. is when the nitrous is tied in with the fuel. If you find one of Colonel's posts look at his N2O file in his sig. it is very resourcful.

--- I beleive this is correct, I remember reading it somewhere, I am not sure about dry though.

Hope this helps!

A dry system relys on the injectors to add the needed fuel enrichment. The nitrous passes through the MAF sensor in order for this to be accomplished.

A wet system supplies it's own fuel and the nitrous is introduced after the MAF sensor.

Check my nitrous tech files link in my sig. It covers the basics.

A dry system is just that...dry, meaning no fuel is sprayed along with the nitrous.

A wet kit sprays fuel along with nitrous. A dry kit is usually mounted before the MAF because it will read the O2 and add more fuel. A wet kit is mounted after the MAF and before the TB usually. You can't spray fuel through the MAF for obvious reasons. The wet kit doesn't need the computer to add fuel.

Nitrous is relatively safe though for any newbies reading. You just have to take the necessary precautions.

How many sec or milli sec does it take after the shot of nitrous for the car to respond and start adding fuel? I't seems there would be some lag time before the computer can update and start adding fuel, Does the car run lean for a short duration of time?I'm shure It's not very long but still. Anyone?

"Does the car run lean for a short duration of time?"

No, the nitrous is traveling through the intake tract no faster than air normally is...which the MAF was designed to measure. The fuel will be there when the nitrous gets there just like it's there by the time air gets there (elsewise you'de have a lean condition ANYTIME you put your foot on the floor.)

Absolutly. They do have some great things that they offer out there to help prevent this from happening.

Bottle warmer, window switch...Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the bottle warmer's purpose to to keep a constant psi in the bottle, (I forget why this is important) and the window switch, working at WOT, sets a 'window' passed on RPMs which the nitrous will be turned on.

This is nice for M6's because missed shifts = bad.

Ahhhh the almighty full throttle switch. That is definitly what i am going to do even if i decide to go with the A4 which i am seriously leaning towards. Now i just need to see exactly how much that is going to run.If anybody knows off the top of there head i would greatly apreciate a rough estimate.

Screw the WOT switch with an A4. You want to spray from 3,000rpms and up. I sprayed through every shift with no problems at all. Once you get traction on the line, just hit the button and hold that sucker in until you cross the line.

You're welcome.

If there's anything else you need to know about N2O, feel free to do some searches and question asking in the Nitrous Oxide section of LS1Tech. There's lot's of good knowledge to be had in there.
