torque moves cars, horspower sells them. you do know horsepower is just a calculation of torque at a given rpm right?

you might have better luck in the dyno section, or in the internal engine section.

gto ls1- 6 speed
long tubes to 3" with one stock cat,(high flow later)

and thank you, i didnt know that zacht. but with a very light car(2700)aprox.
its going to be hard to get it to the ground. so 450whp and 400tq would be aok for me

and i know the whole hp sells tq wins speech lol
but i mean if i get good tq with the cam AND good hp thats fine too

torque is the amount of work the engine can do, horsepower is how fast it can do it.

Torque gets the car moving, but horsepower wins the race.

The torque curve is what really makes a fast car and high horsepower numbers. If the torque peak is too low in the rpm range the car will jump off the start but fall on its face half way through each gear.

If you are looking for as smooth an idle as possible, have you looked into forced induction? You could easily get 450hp and 400ft lbs of tq with the stock cam, so it wouldn't effect the idle.

A big lopy cam will kill your torque so a smaller cam will give you a nice amount of torque through the entire range which will get you moving at any speed.

well wait here. what exactly do you want to do with the car? is is a road course car? drag car? fun street car?

first off a LS1 in a s13 is going to be a very fun car. your probably looking at low 12's right there, traction permitting and all.

as far as a smooth idle and no comprimised drivability/mileage, ive seen 400rwhp plus cars with a good cam. yeah around 112-114, ive heard good things about the 228r as well as (IIRC) a thunder racing 224-144, its the one with the dyno graph on there site.
