of my other vehicles.
German Castrol and Amsoil are other oils that have performed well in
oil analysis as well.
Here some of the links from "e-hem " the other site.
Sarge is the man over there when it comes to oil.
I had more link but I couldn't find them.

You can't go wrong by using any name brand 5w-30 and any name brand oil filter. The key is to change your oil regularly between 3-5k miles.
Fram filters, while weak and pitiful inside, have filtered millions of gallons of oil without failure. However, there are better filters for an equal price.

I am running mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 and AC delco filters. And my car just hit 177,XXX miles. Now I purchased the car with high miles and the original owner always used mobil 1 so I just continued. The car runs amazingly well. The only think I can say is that it does consume oil. I would say almost a quart every 1,600 miles or so. I think its time to step up to a little thicker oil. So at next oil change which will be this weekend I am going to go to the 10w30. I am very curious what the consumption difference will be. I am considering going with the PP this time instead of the Mobil 1 if for nothing else the cost factor alone.

I shy away from Mobil now. I used to use it fanatically but have noticed that it thins out quicker than I would like and the cost is pretty high.
I also avoid Fram filters as they have a bad rap and having been farming out to China for production.
I choose an AC/Delco Silverado truck filter (same as my 02 5.3 truck uses), and Penn Platinum. The AC/Delco filters are still made in the USA.
I'm going to try the Castrol even though I know the Penn Plat performed well in my car.

You can usually get the Castrol OW-30 @ A.Z. I was nervous about it, but researched it & was the only thing that seemed to really make difference at start up. Had about 50k on the car when I switched to it.

i have always used mobil 1 synthetic in my vehicles. I think this discussion is one of those conversations you could get into with the local ford guy..which vehicle is more dependable ect.. however im not sure how many horsepower tv fanatics there are but i happen to be one of them, and about a year or so ago they did a horsepower shoot out with a zz4 crate motor (i realize its not an ls motor) and between mobil one castrol synpower and royal purple, royal purple actually showed a decrease in rotational friction adding like 4 horsepower consistantly. now they didn't show any kind of proof as to which brand reduced wear and increased engine life but if you reduce friction, then you reduce heat, wear, ect. in my own opinion as stated above, i think as long as you change the oil and filter regularly you will be fine. i don't beleive that if one of you guys had a ls1 ta and one had an ls1 camaro and ran seperate oil brands that either one would really see a difference. but like i said its all in opinion...
