Default which oil?

i got a 01 T/A and plan on doing a oil change tomorrow. i was curious which oil to use. my car has 119xxx on it, and i have heard that cars with high miles you shouldn't put synthetic in it. curious if this is true or not. and if it is, which is a better 5w or 10w?

Your car came from the factory with synthetic, so that's probably whats in it now. Stick with it. 5 or 10w30 is fine, though you might want to go a tad thicker if that 120k is starting to sound like a sewing machine. Don't use a fram filter.

ac delco, wix, k@n. I think the reason not to use fram is the paper comes apart inside of it.

AC delco filter and PenzPlat and 5/30 unless you live somewhere hella hot, then use 10/30.

Yep, oil analysis prove Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic 10w-30 to be one of the best for our cars.

AC Delco Filters are also a quality product.

I use both.

brandotron has it right, and fram oil filters filter too good if that makes sense to you, basically they dont allow enough oil to flow to flow through them so its runnin on the bypass all the time, i just went through this not too long ago when i decided t try one and it created a hell of a lot of valvetrain noise

is the engine stock ? if you are running more power 500whp +- on stock short block i would recommend going with thicker oil like 15w40. if the engine is pretty much stock then use 5w30.

i only use royal purple and k&n oil filter.

German castrol if you can find it is found to be the best. I run Penz Platinum with a K&N filter.

Bobbyd, love your ride, somehow this is my first time seeing it.

fram is junk, k&n can mess up oil pressure. other than that all oil filters are pretty much the same inside.

Hey bear... can I read about this analysis somewhere? Is it posted or something? I'd be up for the change since some of you have had good luck with it and some of you have had your cars a lot longer than I have as well. PM if ya want n thanks!
