Default DD cam?

Hey guys I want to keep my car streetable but I want it to have a bite as well.
I was wanting to get a cam, but I didnt know what to get that would be a good DD cam, and one that doesnt need a tune.

Mods are:
SLP CAI
SLP DD (soon to be something else)

Thanks guys!

im clueless about a upgraded cam without a tune. my ls6 runs so smooth you cant even tell i've got a cam, 600 rpm idle, 5750 peak hp, of coarse it will rev higher. the negative is low dyno #s. with any cam you should upgrade your springs. i've heard stock springs float or bounce at 5800rpm. i'm thinking of upgrading my cam to 224/228 dur, 570 lift on a 114 or 115 lsa. just my 2 cents, under engine internal please read the cam sticky. call our sponcors for better opinions. cheers!

Probably a hotcam or ls6 if you don't want to get a tune.

Why no tune? I ordered a VRX3 for my DD

You basically need a tune for ANY camshaft WORTH swaping. If you plan to swap cams and go through all the work to begin with for a cam that won't require a tune to run great... then chances are the cam is so small that it isn't worth doing PERIOD. Ether get a decent or mid size cam like a 224 or a 228 or a little bit smaller and get a good tune or don't bother spending the money to get one at all. It just won't be worth it.

the ls6 is the one u want if u dont want to do retuning but if ur doing a cam might as well make it worth it. I believe that cam is just not worth doing but that just me. If u want a basic cam that is good for power and streetability then do the 224 and get the car tuned

Thanks guys for the input. I just don't want to spend the money for a cam then a tune and then if I decide to do heads and something else paying even more money for a tune..

Well like said above, if your thinking of doing a cam and ur stock otherwise then worry about boltons first or you'll completely waste your money. AFTER you have headers back full exhaust and what not, THEN pickup a cam and get it all tuned at once. Thats worth around 400rwhp, if you want heads later down the road.. well you will be spending more money anyways so either do it all at once or just let it go for now and do it later with a tune.

Retunes are cheap if you use the same tuner who originally tuned it........

Most of the time but not always. Make sure you check with the tuner first. I know of a few who charge full price everytime they touch your car

dont forget you can't get JUST a cam, you need supporting mods, such as better oil pump, timing chain, injectors, springs, headers, and yes... tune. way your car sits it'll cost 1k to get a cam in there and be safe/run right.

You also have 28 lb injectors... not to mention unless that was a 150 dry shot, it has no bearing on your injectors...

my injectors are at 100% duty cycle with just bolt ons /tune
damn 2000 for coming with 26 pounders

Yea bro I'd get some bolt ons first. Do it right and get the cam after. You NEED to get a tune for it to really work at full potential. Longtubes are hella fun man especially with a cutout. TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!
