Default Towing with a 1999 Z28 Convert

Not sure if this is the right section but I might be moving from CA to Utah. I obviously need to get my stuff over there too. Would it be possible to rent something from Uhaul and tow it with my camaro? I dont have much stuff just a rooms worth. Put a tow hitch on it and tow or is there more to it?

That would be to much to tow w/ a Camaro.Your better off renting a Uhaul Truck and car trailer to get were you have to go.

I used to tow a 2-up jetski trailer (with two jetskis on it) with both my '97 v6 camaro and my '99 z28. It has plenty of power, they make direct fit hitches, and it tows up to 1000-1200 lbs without too much issue. I think that the towing rating is 1000, but I may have pushed it a little.

My hitch would probably still be on the z28 except that I put a magnaflow on, and it no longer fit so I took it off.

You can do what you want, but the car can handle a small trailer.

Too much to tow? I thought the tow capacity is 1500lbs? I dont have nearly that much stuff just a bed two dressers really. I can put my clothes in the camaro. Marors1 where did you get the hitch from? I wanna try to do this move with using as little money as possible.

You wanna pay the extra 400 its gonna cost then? I am moving because I lost my job not because I want to. Things have to be as cheap as possible.

People do it all the time. I've seen two jet skis being hauled by a fourth gen in person.

There are a number of threads about it. They all basically say the same thing: "We don't like it 'just because,' but, yeah, you can haul with an F-Body."

No one's taking that car away. It's not even going to be driven. It's probably already crushed.

It's GM that's hauling that trailer. That's a "captured test fleet" vehicle, IIRC.

Wow that's the most logically practical idea I've heard yet! I'm sure fellows are lining up to let him borrow their trucks for a cross country trek. Not to mention how convenient it'd be to drive it all the way back and pay to get a ticket home.

Get a hitch and a little U-haul, dude. It's not a big deal. Besides, if you keep it on after you're done and anyone asks questions, you can tell them, "It's for haulin' ***."

I agree. It's like some people think out of their *** instead of their head.

Keep in mind the cost of the hitch and getting it on there as well. It may not be a huge diff. In cost To rent a truck and tow the car as some have suggested. The last time I checked hitches weren't exactly cheap. Another option would be to sell what you have and then buy a new bed and cheap dresser when you get where you're going. Good luck

You have to buy gas as well. I think the difference would really be a push.

I dunno if his is 6spd but I'd wager on the camaro getting better mpgs than the truck towing the stuff and car.

Well I look at it like this. It will be 20 to rent the uhaul and 15 to rent the lil thing that will pull my camaro. Plus its around 500 miles. Thats 500 right there off the bat. With gas in a car that gets 15 MPG thats ATLEAST without calculating it probably 150. So the total is 650. I know I can probably manage 25mpg in my camaro. So I get a hitch for 150 and rent the lil uhaul thing for 15. Thats 165. Gas will probably take no more than 100. Thats 265. Seems a lil cheaper...No?
