Default 5.3 wiring harness

does anyone know if a 5.3 harness will work on a ls1 5.7? Thanks

It will work if you swap the connectors for the fuel injectors.

can a 5.3 harness be used as a stand alone swap harness?

I used the 5.3 harness with no modification for my swap into my Jimmy, using the fuse box out of a 2000 Silverado to make all my connections. It would be possible to modify the harness, but you will need to add a few relays and your own fuse panel to do it properly.
