Default breather cap? mini air filter?

I saw this in pepboys and recalled seeing this object in other cars. Never knew what its true purpose was, but could guess that it allows your engine to breathe better. For 10 bucks is it worth it? Looks pretty cool, dont know if it will affect anything...

You only want to run a breather in your valve cover on a N/A car if you have the PCV delete. If you are going to use a breather go with a good one:

As the above poster posted unless you have deleted your PVC system its not wise to run it on a N/A car. You will end up blowing oil out the filter if you do..

Since I have deleted the PCV system, I run the breather to relieve any pressure......you will also notice in the picture I ran in my post above I run another smaller breather. That one is hooked up to where the system orignated....I have no oil residue evident in my intake
