Starting engine with no 02 sensors?

I have a project using an ls1 and the only thing left is the exhaust. I'm going to have to take it to an exhaust shop since I'm not the greatest welder but is it ok to temporarily start the car for a few secs with no 02 sensors? I don't want to foul the plugs since they are a bitch to reach in my car.
Thanks.
Thanks.

When the motor is cold it does not use the O2 sensors (open loop operation). It uses a pre-programed set of assumptions to meter fuel to the motor.
I'd say you could probably plug the O2s into the harness just so the wires are hooked up and start it briefly. Without the O2s plugged in I'm not sure if it will throw a code, but if it did just clear it.

Wrong. I just read your other thread...
You should start by fixing the Crank Position Sensor. That tells your car where the pistons are in relation to top dead center. Without that info the spark curves fuel curves etc. will all have the wrong timing. Then you need to get your starter bolt issue fixed so the starter doesn't chip a tooth off your flexplate. Your car will probably run with the old O2 sensors.
You'll get more precise feedback on the other thread if you post up your actual DTC codes. All of them.
Good luck. I know how frustraiting that SES light can be.
