I have an A4 car and hate the way it looks.
This is what I'm aiming to swap for (see below).
Will the top piece/insert from a similar year M6 snap onto a the center console of an A4 car?
Or do I need the entire center console out of a M6?

So how do you know what gear your in?
In your swap did you ever get a feel for how hard it may be to swap out the stock shifter shaft and inner nylon plunger? I only ask because I know you saw my other thread and if my mods don't hold, I may have to attempt to replace them..

P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1. I guess I knew my car relatively well enough to gauge if I was in 3rd or not.
In my swap (not my picture, but I replicated OfficerMartinez's--pictured above) I measured & cut the shaft & plunger using a dremel. I didn't unbolt the shaft or anything when I did the swap, however, it's not too difficult to do. I did see your thread and you may have shortened it too much, if so the **** won't be on right (as you probably know). I wish I could be of more help

So the shaft just unbolts, if need be? Mine is gonna be fine, unless I want to change it.. I really like what you did though and may try something similar if the shaft is easily replaceable.. If not, I'll just leave it..
