Question about SLP larger Diameter Y-pipe
SLP Part #31035
Question is: The website notes at the bottom of the page that for 98-99 some cutting and welding is required. Has anyone with a 98-99 replaced their stock "flat" Y-pipe with this? If so, how much cutting /welding was needed (pics or a description would be great)?
Thanks in advance

They say the factory Y flows just about as good. I've talked to GMMG I have their exhaust on my car and most of their cars have the factory Y. They say you might gain 2or 3 hp with that SLP. I had the SLP on my ex 98 T/A before I went with LT's and a True Dual setup. But yes you have to cut it and yes I has to be welded on the passenger side but nw it's just one fits all. It used to have a 98-99 and a 00-02, I think now it's 98-02. An by the way sometimes it hits the floor board and may affect ground clearance. To me I wouldn't do it again not worth it. Spend money else were. Underdrive Pulley maybe, faster revving and more HP and slow down accesories. Just my $0.02

i have one on my 02 with the loudmouth and gutted cats. went right in. it sounded alot better. i dont have a problem with ground clearance at all. i really only got it because my stock one had some dents in it from the previuos owner. glad i got it though.

The issue is with 1998 and 1999 cars only (hence you didn't have the issue i'm concerned about with your 2002). I was thinking about purchasing a used one off a local guy but then noticed SLP's website stated that it would need to be cut and re-welded to fit 98-99 f-bodies. I'm beginning to think its more work than its worth.
