just bought the girlfriend her first fbody...

2000 trans am a4... 147k miles.. ls6 cam/springs/intake hardened push rods 373 gears full exhaust...

1 owner, guy bought it brand new in 2000..

honest to god if you covered the millage up you would guess 35k miles.. last year with a 3200 VIG in it it went 11.7@115..

my trans am had... MS4/PRCls6s/ported FAST 90/90/410s/VIG 4k stall/full exhaust/ etc etc etc..
115k miles..
ran 7.2@95 spinning through '60 and untuned for heads.. 85 degrees out.. stok suspension..

id say they run just fine..

That is a great buy. I feel like I got a good deal on mine as well. I bought a 2001 SS, verified by SLP, 373 gears, Hooker long tubes, magnaflow cat back, MTI cam, lid and throttle body, BMR lower control arms, relocation brackets, white, tan leather, optima battery, subframe connectors, cutout, 100K with extra chrome zr1 wheels. I paid 6750 last October locally in TX.

I bought mine with 150K on it. It still runs excellent, starts up nicely, gets great oil pressure, however it does have a rear main leak...

no rear leaks here. just hit 153k the other day and i been running a 100 shot for a long time. needless to say the tranny dont like it (A4) but it still works. see sig for what i think are some pretty impressive stats for a high mileage car.

Got my one owner repo-ed 2000 Camaro Z28 with 61k miles on it, 100% stock for $11,500 out the door. I've honestly never seen a cleaner car even though I payed a bit more than I had liked to. Hoping it will last as long as your cars

The car was 5 hours away in Virginia. Didn't have alot of time to get down there and really check it out. I did test drive it for about 10 minutes and it seemed to be fine at the time. I didn't know anything about LS1 motors before that point so if there were any noises that shouldn't have been there I didn't know the difference. If the car was closer, and knowing what I know now, I would have checked it out further and had a mechanic do a compression check.

106K here and still seems to be running strong...noisy though.. ugh.
The car had a ticking noise that had been bothering me. I had wanted to have a good LS1 shop take a look at it and give it a once over to check it out. So I brought it down to Race Proven Motorsports in Delaware. As Fran and his crew were checking it, they removed the oil filler cap and revved the engine. Alot of smoke came out. So I left the car with them and they found those cylinders were out. He also told me that what I thought was a GPS mount in the dash was a tach gauge mount.

All the signs were there that the car had the snot beat out of it, I just didn't know enough to see it. Oh well. She's good now and I have spare block in the shed to rebuild when I get time/money/knowledge.

My 99 SS just hit 199K. Picked it up recently for a good deal but needs some body work and I have done a lot of nickel and dime repairs. Runs strong, one year old tranny, good oil psi, no smoke, little oil usage thru PCV, good compression, one owner for most of it's life dealer maintained and highway miles.

I plan to do a track run when I get all the bolt ons then just daily driver until the motor goes then it will be time to do it up!

how long are these motors in general good to go for with decent mods to them? i mean, just a rough idea... we all know you get more miles with a stocker... but who keeps their cars stock?? LoL

Actually on a more important question. How long do the other "parts" start to go bad at.. such as electrical, suspension, drive train and all that?

The z is a really clean car 100% showroom stock (not for long ) and drives beautiful. I was just thinking how these engines are after 00k Id imagine pretty reliable just wondering on some opinions.
