Default How are ls1's over 100k?

I finally did it today... I sold my 01 firebird to a friend of mine for $3500, it had 109k on the clock and bought a 2000 pewter z28 with 110k for $3700. The z is a really clean car 100% showroom stock (not for long ) and drives beautiful. I was just thinking how these engines are after 00k Id imagine pretty reliable just wondering on some opinions.

I bought mine with over 100K on it. Turns out cylinders 5+7 were shot. Had to put in a used bottom end. I think my car was beat on pretty good though. It still had the mount for an autometer tach drilled into the dash.

if it was taken care of, they can go 200k +, if they were beat on they could go out at 30k. its all in how they were treated.

Chances are if its stock it hasn't been beat all to hell... I have a friend that decided to spray his car at over 200k, Another friend of mine blew his up on dope at 75k... You never know, maybe you'll get lucky.

126k with a perfectly idling, smooth ride. Like billymz28 said, maintenance is key.

Both my truck and my car have around 120k and are running strong. Neither one use oil or anything like that. Like everybody else said; they'll last forever if properly maintained.

ya thats what I figured my firebird was kinda beat on before I got it, someone put a turbo in it and didnt do a great job then ripped it out so I had alotta fixing to do. But this z looks pretty good I wanted a stock car cuz like said above it probably has been beat on, only 1 owner, and its 100% stock, clean as hell, etc.

mine was fine at 120k until i tached it to 7000 and snapped 2 rod bolts pushed the piston into the head enough to break the head gasket seal and hydo locked another cylinder and cracked the block but ran great up until that happened

How did you figure out the cylinders were shot?

Sorry to be blunt, but how did you not know 2 entire cylinders were shot before you bought the car? lol
