Default TB Bypass

I did this on my lt1 bird. Does the 2001 firebird have the same setup?

You can do it on a 2001 firebird. Take both ends off tb and connect them. I'm not sure how the lt1 setup is.

This is one of the free mods that I, for one, don't suggest you do. Even if you do the mod, the water that flows through it cools off the part which is connected to a giant heating block of metal and thermodynamics prove that metal and metal conduct heat really nicely. Therefore the 'hot' water flowing through the TB will warm it up on startup, it will also cool it down once the engine is at operating temperature. So if you do this mod, you will actually heat up the air entering the engine more than if you just left it all be. There are many other mods that are free and actually have some good reasoning behind it. Check out some of the free things you can do at www.installuniversity.com, however, think about the positive and negative of each thing you do. Most common sense will apply to motors. If you don't know what to do, then either leave it be or come back here and ask.

I did the bypass on my car.... as a matter of fact one of the first mods I did. Never heard/seen anything negative about it on any cars I've done it to or seen it done on. On my car throttle body was alot hotter when the coolant ran through it.

I forgot to mention that this is a bad idea for people in the north whom have cold winters. Like MI. hehe.

Yea, its just my opinion that the TB bypass is a bad idea. Even if you do it, the air that rushes through there really would have no time to heat up anyways. Just my $0.02

+1 I don't think it's worth doing either.

well i live in cali i did it and i noticed my tb runs way cooler now..
and i think it looks cleaner since you can hide the hose and when your working on your car and need to take the tb off it makes it faster and cleaner to do probably no performance difference tho.
