Default Do most 2000 A4 z28's have 2.73 gears or 3.23?

I am going to buying my aunt's 2000 Z28, but i want to know what gears it has?

Assuming it's stock, look at the RPO codes on the drivers side door:

GU2 - 2.73
GU5 - 3.23

2.73 came with steel driveshaft, 3.23 aluminum driveshaft. If it has 2.73's don't let that stop you from buying it.

My 99 has 2.73's.
Getting a 12 bolt with 3.73's from Speed Inc in spring!

My 2000 has 2.73s, good for gas mileage

Yes, 2.73 was the "standard" gear for A4 Z/28s so the majority got that.

I have the 3.23 (GU5) -- how can you tell if it is steel or aluminum? I thought mine was aluminum.

Also, G80 -- posi rear

i didnt know steel or aluminum driveshafts were an option. i guess i have to look under the car.

What's the real difference as far as the car is concerned? Aluminum lighter and steel stronger or something?

My 98 Z came with 2.73's. I went with a true posi stage 3 carrier and 3.73's
