Default seat belt retractor

Hi,

So I need a new seat retractor (the part that bolts to the roof), and hope someone has some info on them I could use, as a new one will be about $200 !
Will a passenger side retractor work on the drivers side?
Are the rear belt retractors the same as the drivers one?
What year cars will fit my 2001?
I guess the Camaro has the exact same assembely, and will it fit my TA?

Just trying to find a cheaper replacement that I can use, instead of being ripped off as usual lol.

Thanks for the help,

Paul.

I know mine (mounts differently on 'verts) is weak; can you
disassemble it, wind the spring another turn or anything?

Boneyard (bring a big Torx bit) is a fair bet.

Hey Jimmy,

Sorry, I don't think it comes apart easily.
I can see in mine that the teeth that lock up are worn, as is the stopper that the teeth lock into.
Mine works okay when it's not bolted into the fixed postion
I know sometimes just taking them off, and putting them back on can move the weight enough to make them work again, but this didn't work with mine.
I could get one 2nd hand, but I'm not so sure I want one that may have already had the stress of a crash used on it, plus by the time I get it here it won't be so cheap after all. I'm ordering a new one, and paying the extra.
