mileage....
i'm sure this has been asked a thousand times....
what kind of mileage do you guys get per tank....
my friend has a '00 Z28 and he gets about 350/tnk, and thats with him gunning it quite often.... for some reaosn i cant seem to get over 250/tnk and i baby my TA most always....
friend also said something about the best mileage on a car coming between 10k-70k miles and it being not so great before and after that... that sounded like BS to me....
any ideas? i read that some bad mileage can be caused by a bad O2 snsor, but my mileage doesnt seem as bad as what people were reporting form that....

i believe are tanks are 15.5.....so without pulling out a calculator that means your buddies miliage would be around just over 22 miles per gallon......there is no way he gones it often and drives in town much.....they have said a m6 car can achieve 30mpg but thats just cruisin 6th gear on a highway just purring.....my car is cam/heads with a 3k stall and i get about 14mpg in the city when im screwing around but for some wierd reason it got 24mpg going from dekalb IL to iowa city with 17lbs in the back tires, a dirty air filter and got off the highway twice and drove through two decent size cities....so it really just depends on where hes drivin the car vs. where your driving yours, his mods vs. yours, auto vs. 6.....lot of factors.....
i can see his point with the whole 10k-70k being the best for mpg.....whether thats exact or not i dont know but it takes time for the engine to break in to get good mileage, and once the motor starts wearing out mileage may go down a little
what you said about 02 sensors is true, normally you will get a light tho but not always, and you can take them out and clean them, or even just take them out to look bc sometimes theres **** all over them. In my opinion theres an operating range for 02's....what i mean is, they be reading 95% correct and you wont see a light, maybe no light will go on till the efficiancy is below 90%.....my percentage figures are a complete guess but hopefully you get the point, what im saying is they may be malfunctioning a little bit with no light, light may not come on till they get a little further off.

The most I've recorded on my catback ws6 m6 is about 22mpg maybe 23 babying it on city and highway. I got 20 or so with some agressive driving and and 2 races with 3 runs each and regular unleaded by accident, oops!
Calculate Miles per gallon. The miles per tank thing is just wrong.
Start by filling up your tank then hit trip reset. Next time you need gas fill it up again take the miles divide by the gallons. You will have a number that is worth talking about.
Any miles per tank numbers are just too ify. One guy drives to the last drop the next guy fills at 1/3 of a tank and so on.
I have recorded every gas purchase and coresponding miles driven since I bought my car new in 01. Current avg is 21.8 on 43k.

The first day I bought my car I floored it non stop. I got 14mpg
I've had the car for a year now and average 22-24mpg with half and half city/hwy and can squeeze out a little over 30 mpg on the 200+ mile trip to my parents house every few months.

I'm getting 15 mpg city, 20 hwy with my ls1/t56 car
Has a LS6 intake, Long tubes, T1 cam, 3.73's and its tuned by Formato
I never beat on it, and on the hwy I avg 74 mph, which is about 1950 rpms...... with cruise control
I somehow expected more from it than that

My air filter was filthy when I first bought my WS6 A4 and it got 19.3mpg on a 250 mile highway trip. Cleaned it out and drove it back the same way and got about 23.5. I have over 109,000 miles, so that might account for some of it. I just installed an FIPK and I'm getting a Predator, so I'll let you know if that shows any vast improvements.
