nothing above 500rwhp.... heads/cam/intake....bolt-ons....thasts sbout it....
noise level isnt a problem.... though i do need to pass emissions... not that a diameter would change that....

I had spoken to two of this site's most highly regarded vendors about that very issue, and they both recommended the 1 7/8" headers, because "they allow you room to grow."
Also, I don't know how serious you are about that 500 RWHP stuff, but forget about it n/a with stock cubes and an A4. If you drive your car on the street alot, build yourself a H/C/I car with a good torque curve, that makes good average power, with good driveability(i.e. avoid Godzilla cams), match it up with an appropriate stall, get it dyno tuned, and don't worry about chasing dyno numbers. A package like I described will offer outstanding street manners, and it will possess the potential to take down cars with much more power. Best of luck with your project.

Obviously, as my sig indicates, I elected to go with the American Racing headers. The quality and fit is outstanding, and I've always preferred to use stainless steel components wherever possible in the exhaust system. Kooks are outstanding, high quality headers, too. Both of these brands are pricier than many of the others, but I've always believed that, in the long run, you get what you paid for. If the aforementioned brands are not in your budget, there are still many other viable, less expensive options. The only brand that I would advise you to avoid are the SLPs. I know two guys who have them, and neither like them....they hang too low. Whichever manufacturer you choose, just be sure to get long tubes. Best of luck.

this man knows his stuff, i was looking for longtubes and ended up settling with kook LT's ending at 3" so it bolted right up to my next install, 3 inch pipes.
but heaven forbid dont get the SLP's nomatter how desperate you are for headers, [considering your ride height] they will bottom out and scrape up fast not to mention when (not IF) but when you take them off for that reason, selling them would be hard due to the torture they have endured.
my modo is go big or go home there for you can always grow into them. the only exception i have to that rule is with cams and heads. a while ago i was looking at a 242 cam with 225 heads, now i have found that trans am enthusists prefer the GM hot cams kit for their 4th gen. (when it comes to cams: bigger is not always better)
