Run. RUN.

If a DEALER has that car for $4200, there IS A REASON.

Edit: Hood AND Hatch alignment look poor.

Run.

1. I wouldn't waste $4500 on that car as you'll spend $2000-3000 in paint and parts converting it back to an SS.

2. It's either been wrecked or stolen hence the missing SS parts (all of them)

3. It could be a VIN swap, I'd make sure the VIN on other parts of the car matches the dash and RPO sticker in the door that MUST say RPO WU8.

Keep looking, high mileage 98-99 SS are dipping into the $6000's these days.

Just cause it costs less than other SS' doesn't automatically mean it's a good deal.

Word. Have a look at my garage for pics of the way an SS should look...

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not worried about it being stolen, altered VIN or any of that stuff. I'm a licensed dealer (for over 30 years), the car is at an auction in Nashville (was a repo) & the cars & titles are guaranteed.

As far as the paint goes, we own the two BEST body shops in the county, plus I have already bought the OEM hood & spoiler FOR 325.00, so that's not a problem.

Like 01ssreda4 said, "The SS is basically just an appearance package. A few got gears, bilstien upgraded suspension, chrome wheels, and/or catbacks. There were bunches of options. The basic SS was badges, hood, spoiler, and silver wheels. All of which can be removed easily.",which is also what the guy at SLP told me.

I'm not an SS expert by any means, just relaying the SLP message.

Im no expert either, but I thought ALL SS cars that were automatic got 3.23 gears regardless of options as well as different sway bars ?

That could be. I'll check when I get it to see what ratio it came with.

Automatics had 3.23's. 6speeds came with 3.42's.

I don't think they had optional gearing, but I know there was an option for the Auburn rear diff though.

because even if you are buying to turn around and sell after paint/parts you wont be able to get much for that car. It looks to be in rough shape, and as stated, you can find mid/hi mileage SS cars in the 6's. Anyone who is wanting to purchase an SS car is going to want SS wheels as well...

Def. NOT an SS. the badge on the back is in the wrong spot. It's not aligned with the taillight correctly. Not to mention the laundry list of other stuff that makes it NOT an ss

They offered a 3.73 option. I dont know any details of it though, like what years etc.

The upgraded Bilstien suspension was a $1000 option on top of the price of the SS package which was like 3Gs. I would think lots of cars didnt get that option strickly bc of the extra price. Mine ironically did have it and its listed on the pass door as a dealer/SLP installed option.

Guys, read before you post. Nobody said it was at a Chevy dealer & it has been confirmed by SLP to be an SS.

Maybe you should ask why it has the stock v6/v8 hood and spoiler and running on v6 rims
