HAHA, no I didn't read that. But, what I was trying to convey is it's not something I would even consider buying.

so you still think that buying this car for 4200 is a deal? it may be a numbers verified ss BUT look at all the work and trouble whoever had it before you to strip it. if it was a repo then they obviously stripped that car to the z28 look. probably beat the **** out of it. good luck with whatever direction you go in. but I wouldnt even consider it. AT ALL.

Like I said, I've got the parts to make it right.

I don't really care one way or another what's there, what's missing, what might have happened to the car in another life, & I don't care if it's going to give me free Health Care like the Chosen One.
All I asked is was it a real SS or not. It is confirmed to be legit, so I don't see the need for further discussion about it. To each their own.

No No and No. The below 3 gear ratios were the ONLY ones offered on 1994-2002 f-bodies.

2.73 - auto
3.23 - auto
3.42 - manual

93' 6spds came with something higher (read smaller number) than 3.42s. I can't remember the exact number but it was like a 3.20 or something close.

I'd be very careful. Look under the hood. Make sure it's really a V8 at least. I'd still be careful. It's not impossible to swap VINs. If you have a wrecked SS you can put it's VIN on to another camaro and you can change the VIN in the PCM as well... just be careful. Not everyone out there is honest. It very well could be the real thing, but I'm skeptical.

Just a slight little nit-pick, but you could also get the 3.42 limited slip in the V-6 perfomance package and that only came with the auto trans. Don't have the code handy but I had a new '01 V-6 auto with that. It's not common but it is out there.

I got bored and went to look it up. The Y87 package was the one that had 3.42 limited slip auto in the V-6.

Carry on.

I did read the whole thread. However, you blew off other mentions of this. It is a very real possiblity. Guaranteed title/car or not, it does happen. Usually things that just don't look right, aren't right. You're asking for people's opinions. My opinion is that this is probably a chopped car at best. However, it's your money. Take the risk if you want. In my opinion, there are better cars out there with out the risk.

Flippin,
I appreciate the offer, but I've had it checked out already by a friend who lives in Franklin. Murfreesboro is a great town by the way. Actually bought an SS spoiler there the other day.

Sorry everyone, I don't mean to come off sounding like that & yes, I did ask for opinions on whether it was REAL, but I just get frustrated at the posts like "make sure it's a V8" or "it's fake", after it's already confirmned. I've owned more Camaro's than I can count, but I'm not completely up to speed on the 98-02's.

So are you planning on changing the car to SS parts and then selling it as an SS? If so I hope the potential buyer is smart enough to do some research first. That is not an "original SS. Have you done a carfax on the car or looked for the motor vin plate? Someones about to get F*@ked...

Me too. I recently bought an 01 Z28 A4 for my 16 yr. old son.
That kinda rekindled the old fire if you know what I mean.

hope he's a safe driver... thats a lot of power for a fresh driver IMHO. I'm 22 and I have had my car for about a year and a half, and I know if I had it at 16 the car would be totaled, or I'd have no license within a year. Now that I'm older, and have about 7 years under my belt, i'm more responsible, but at that age... haha glad i had a v6 back then

Yeah, he's a good driver, been driving since he was 9, but I definitely know what you mean.
