Tire pressure is HUGE. Also as important is making sure the car is running as optimal as possible. Good plugs, wires, O2's, fuel filter, PCV, air filter, as well making sure there's no carbon build up.

As said driving habit is the biggest.

Some other ideas are to reduce drag. If you have a Camaro with a tacked on spoiler (SA package) or F1 wing, it's time for it to go. Those have been proven to reduce a 1/4 mile time by 2/10ths.

I loved the mythbusters mod. They put modeling clay all over the car and dimpled it like a golf ball. Mileage went from 26 to 29 mpg. Lol. The best mod I can tell you besides putting a pedal stop behind the gas pedal to keep you from flooring it would to either do a 6 speed swap, put a gear vendors over/ under drive unit in( it has the same double overdrive as a 6 speed but you can still use your automatic), or put higher ratio gears in like 2.73 or 3.08 gears.

Forreal?? You usually don't buy these cars worried about fuel mileage....I bought a cobalt ls to compensate....43+ mpg on the freeway!! I've seen forty eight before lol. So get another car for a dd or whatever or invest in a for sale sign as others have already stated. Not being a dick but thats the truth.

i am very happy with the mpg with a 6 speed nonetheless....if i kept my foot out of it I was in the 28mpg range on the highway allday....now with a cam and 4.10's I am not sure, but I KNOW ONE THING it sure as **** beats driving a 5speed mustang...

I bought my Camaro for gas mileage, but thats because my 4x4 gets like 14 on the highway!

Everyone says that lid, filter, exhaust, etc gets better mpgs, and that may be true but it also gives power so it makes you want to step on it more. And as soon as you do that it also burns more gas when it is opened up so that just defeats the purpose. So if you can stay off the gas then I guess it works, good luck with that!!

But definitely weight reduction and driving habits will make the most difference. The beater mod is nice because it cuts down on miles of the car you care more about.

In theory, I'm going to disagree about exhaust improving gas mileage.

If the exhaust is flowing better, that means you will have less backpressure and more scavenging. That means a higher percentage of the exhaust gasses will be drawn out, meaning it will need to pull more air into the cylinder to fill it back up on the intake stroke. More air means more fuel, more fuel means lower gas mileage.

I don't know if it would have a real negative effect on gas mileage, but I don't see how it would improve it.
