A friend of mine just sold a set of 317 heads, the machine shop said they are the exact same head as the ls-6 243 heads same valve size and intake runners. They do however have a larger combustion camber, I think 71cc on the 317 heads and 64cc on the 243 head. I have not ran them personally but I put a set of 243 heads on a 6.0 and the compression jump seemed to help it a lot. I know a few people who actually look for the 317 heads for boost applications. If you are wanting N/A you might find someone to trade with instead of cutting a set of heads that much. I always seem to have sealing problems along the intake when I have heads cut that much, but that is on old SBC stuff never cut heads for a LS engine.
