LS6 intake has a flat bottom and you will have to grind some of the fins away on the bottom. Also you will have to get the LS6 coolant lines for it to fit. Just cross reference the part numbers with google and it will let you know. Possibly you are searching in the wrong area because those two were found in the Gen III External Engine section. There is so much info on this site it is ridiculous. Ensure you are searching the right area for the info you are looking for...

if it has the hole behind the throttle body for EGR, then its more than likely not an LS6. It might be an SLP LS6 with the EGR, but thats the only thing that would differentiate most of them from one another, but easiest way is the bottom or the part number

And the FLAT bottom. LS1 intakes are wavy on the bottom.

its a pretty simple and straight foward swap, when we did my brothers it only took a couple of hours. you just have to put everything from the ls1 intake onto the ls6 intake.

What I would recommend is that you you look up the part numbers for all the LS6 intakes and have them down on a sheet of paper so when you go pick it up you can match the numbers. That will solve the problem cause there are a couple of part numbers for them. Also there was one year that the vette had an LS1 intake and it didn't have the egr hole in the top of the intake. So becareful. IMO get all the LS6 part numbers that way you can match them.

How do you stick with the stock ones? I have always heard you need to swap over because of fitment issues. I have heard that the stock ones cool better, but can anyone shed some light to how this is done with the stock ones?

You have to grind the ribbing off the bottom of the LS6 intake in order to use the stock coolant lines. I did that with mine, but even after that its still extremely close. Your best bet is to just get the LS6 coolant lines to avoid clearance issues.

Oh I thought you have to grind off the ribs and use the LS6 lines... Oh well I am sure the better cooling is somewhat negligible on a street driven car. The convenience factor alone is enough for me. They sell them on a couple different sponsor sites---->
