autotragic. lol. nice buy though. i've been searching houston craigslist for a while now looking for a good deal on a ls1.... all i've been finding are autos though
do your new parts line up right? i got hit in the same position, maybe a bit harder and it threw the core support out of whack.

Nice deal! I know of someone who got a 1998 LS1 Camaro for $800....completely mint except that it was extremely dirty. It had only 30,xxx miles on it. It belonged to a recently deceased old guy. The wife just wanted the car out of the garage!!

I'm glad they're getting so cheap. It's not like my Z28 will be worth much anyways, you know? Besides, the cheaper these get, the cheaper drivetrains and swap parts will get. Soon enough, 3k LS1 F-bodies will be common it'll be feasible to snag low 11s/high 10s for around a 5k total investment.
Hell, I shopped and bartered wisely and only spent $1,000 on my stall, exhaust, gears and wheels. Could've saved a few more hundred by getting used headers. On a car like this, you'd be hitting bottom 12s for around 4k. Throw in the spray and call it a day.

It's getting dropped off for paint tonight. The guy doing the paint is going to hang the panels for me too so he can cut in the backs and also do some blending. I hope to have it back by the new year. He's going to cut in the rears of the panels, hang the parts, blend the paint, color match my mirrors and buff out the rest of the car. I will have to get a new turn signal and maybe a drivers headlight if I can't fix a crack. Now I just need to find some wheels I like. Anybody want to trade me some wheels and tires for a laptop? My goal is to barter my way through this car!

My plan for right now is getting it back in shape, after that I'll start looking for deals. I came from the LT1 world so right now even stock this car feels fast to me, I'm content for at least a couple of weeks w/o mods. I'm still not sure of a direction, but I'm leaning towards a turbo car, though I have beed offered a pretty sweet deal for a heads/ cam package.

Picking it up from paint Sunday, I'm pretty excited. I found the interior parts I need including a full console for $70, but I have to pull them. No big deal. I also got a full magnaflow exhaust with cut-out (including y-pipe, though that's for an LT1) that will go on there. I'll be selling the LT1 y-pipe when I get my headers in, the cut-out and cat-back will have to do for now until I finish healing from the paint job expendature. I had the whole car painted for good measure, figured "Why half *** it?"
I'll post up pics when I pick it up.

Well, it's still at the painters, should be Wednesday now, but if it rains I'll wait for Thursday. The interior parts I was going to get only sorta panned out, I got the clips I needed for the window switches and the bezels behind the door handles, along with some speaker covers and the lock slider for the pass. door....all for $20. Now that I type it out it seems like I still got a pretty good deal on the parts.
Can't wait to get the car back and get back to working on it!
