did the Carfax mileage match the claimed mileage on the cluster? Whining rear end, knew enough to claim it was a WS6, was quick to trade it on an old, high-mileage Explorer...
I hope you don't get bit in the butt on this one. Another too good to be true story maybe.

Yes carfax matched the mileage on the cluster. It was hit once in the front but was obviously fixed pretty well. "OLD" Explorer? It was an '03 so it was still newer than this. I know I only had 4k in the Explorer but it was a Limited package w/ leather, moonroof, all wheel drive, etc....It was nice And the guy I got the TA from was 69 years old. Only reason I bought the Explorer was because I knew as soon as the snow started falling someone would come off their muscle car just to have 4wd. And I was right on the money with that. And as far as the rear end humming...I'm still not sure about that, I mean hell I drove this thing back over 400 miles and it didn't miss a beat, posi works, launches pretty well, been driving it a little bit here and there to try and work the bugs out, so far no complaints. I can say that I am now a TA lover for sure!!! I was offered $8k for it yesterday and turned it down without a second thought. Found me a keeper. One more thing, don't forget that I live in Cleveland, OH where clean cars are hard to find to begin with, much less a TA like this, I have only seen a hand full around here.

Now that I checked it out those LS1 firebirds base models are still pretty pricey and more than what I figured even if you bought one with that many miles.

Atleast it came with the Z rated tires, so no low speed governor. Good times! Getting it tuned locally for 85 bucks this weekend. Not a bad deal. Did all the free mods and a complete tune up yesterday. Now I just need some nice weather and 2 nice 18" tires for the vette wheels. I will trade those chrome stock wheels for 2 new or nearly new street tires or street slicks 18" just so you all know!!

i have a similar story. i bought a 2000 t/a for around $9800 with 77k miles on it. they wanted $11k for it, but i traded in a '99 ford ranger with 273k miles on it. they gave me $2200 for that piece of junk lol. anyhow, the sales guy said it was a ws6, but it doesn't say ws6 anywhere on it, and it doesn't have the hood scoops. it has the ram air though. the sales guy said the hood scoops didn't come out til the next year. i like the car either way. and i'm going to mod it once i get the $ anyway, so it's all good.

Yeah, I've pretty much figured out that the WS6 if for the people that are collector's or just want to say the have a WS6. Mine has the hood, thats really the only part of the package that seems to be the most desired. Just got my tires today for the vette wheels so they will be going on tomorrow. Still waiting for my tuner guy to get his cable back from his buddy, ugh! Funny part is, if the guy I got it from had been completely honest with me about the car I still would have taken it. Like I said before, Karma is a bitch!

ok, dont know if anyone noticed or not, but on the true ws6 ram air hood, at the very front of the scoops theres a little ridge on them and look at the scoops on his hood, i didnt see the ridges. and from what i understand those only were on the true ws6 hood

Looks like you got a good deal on the TA. There is a 98 Formula at a local dealer for $9800. I would keep the hood and look for some factory 17' wheels to put on it. Change the exhaust for something with more muscle and polish the factory TA tips. With another $1200 into it, you'll have a nice ride Also a true WS6 will have the emblem under the PS tail light

Well I am to the conclusion it's not a real WS6. Thats fine with me, I love the car. It doesn't have the those ridges around the scoop, and I think the scoops are a little larger on mine. It's a bolt on fiberglass hood so I'm definately not complaining. The value of these are cars is a lot higher than I thought, even though some people try to down play them. Cheapest one I found around my area is $12,500,,,,

It's only up for sale for a short time. Got a really good deal on a house and could use the extra cash to put into it. But if I still have it when the weather breaks, it's stayin in the family for a long time. Thanks for everyone's help. This site kicks ***.
