Question Am i that slow or is this guy lieing???

ok the best time my car has ever seen was a 8.288 thru the 1/8. This other guy in town has run a 8.18 with STOCK engine, except lid and homemade ram air setup, has 15" wheels and i heard tonite for the first time 4.10 gears stock rear end....at this track the best i could do is a 8.66 and i got heads/cam and bolt ons am i missing something?? is a 8.18 a normal time you think for a stock eng ls1 camaro?

Is the other car an automatic? With a good torque converter and sticky tires, you can knock off a full second on your ET at the 1/4 mile, probably 2/3 of a second at the 1/8 mile. The 60' times will tell the story, that is THE most important area to focus on if you want to get better ETs.

You should be in the low low 12's.You need some nittos and a good tune. 12.6's out of a head and cam car with headers is not cool.

My stock internal M6 runs 8.05 1/8, 12.49 @ 110mph 1.84 60' 1/4. No weight reduction and with better driving it will go faster. You should be well into the 11's with a h/c car!

yea maybe i should be in the 11's God knows i agree with you on that one, but with no tuning and i feel no tire under the back thats whats hurting me the most .. the tires.. but i don't wanna put a slick under there till i get the 12 bolt ...a good slick w/ 4.10's and i would actually be mad if i didn't go into the 11's with my combo.. deep blue when your car was in 13.4 stock condition would you think it possible to run 8.18 thru the 1/8 with 4.10's and nittos?? if so then maybe this guy is really good at driving, better then me ,(which i hate to admit) i guess the thing is in my town noone else has a h/c car that i am aware of...and to still not be the fastest is kinda dissappointing to me..

thing is my average 60' here at the local track is anywhere from 2.2- 2.5 and i either spin like hell of the line and thru first gear or i bog coming off the line so i don't spin, then it starts to spin thru first gear after it gets to about 2500 rpms... once i get to 2nd it starts to pull hard..so yea traction is my biggest enemy right now

oh yea the 8.66 was with headers and cats as far as exhaust then 2 weeks later after i got my true duals and x pipe the car averaged between 8.80 - 9.0 so adding the exhaust hurt me which is weird considering the car feels like it pulls harder in the lower rpm range

I think with a good tune(a must for any H/C/modified internal car) and some ET streets or some DR's you could go 11s, just make sure you take it easy on that 10 bolt unless you have the cash to fork out for a 12 bolt. Good Luck

yes it looks like no matter what i do its always around the same 60' . we tried changing tire pressures and other stuff and it don't matter 2.2- 2.5 plus also we can't go on the rubber on the track due to having street tires and the track has no prep on it ..
