I have a 94 firebird in bad need of a good engine, i Have the oppertunity to purchase a true 5.7 ls1 from 2000 camaro, and also a 6.0 from a 2500 with low miles. Now the problem is I have a bass boat for sale and a gentleman offered me a 1974 nova with small block and 2 speed power glide, roll cage and 2 stage nos.
I really want the chance to build my own but could avoid headache with nova, hell maybe keep firebird trade for nova and build ls1.


help needed just someone elses oppinion, nova best time on track 10.45 without nos, and is street legal, just dont want to inherit someone elses problems help.

I have both living in my garage, two LS1 F-bodies and a small block Nova, though my Nova isn't anywhere near a 10 second car.

I like both. They each have good and bad, but overall I have more fun with the Nova since it's older and cooler, IMO.

id say nova, but if its a a mid 10 second car off the bottle, doesnt sound too street friendly. if you have another car for a daily then nova for sure. if not, the ls1/6.0 swap could still be pricey.

have to know more details on the nova, might get stuck with a nova with a blown motor after two runs then what are you gonna do.
