knock new to this forum. great site. I have a 2000 ss with a knocking sound that has gotten louder since i bought the car 2 years ago. only does it when cold, sounds like valve train. Wondering if anybody else has had similar problem.

Does it go away when the car is up to operating temp...if so its most def. piston slap. LS1's are notorious for it, its nothing to worry about 95% of people that own LS1's probally have this problem. Good Luck

When I bought my 00 Formula last summer, I listened carefully for it, having learned about it on LS1 boards. I was smugly satisfied that my LS1 did not have it - that is, until ol' man winter arrived and the temps got below 40. Then, lo and behold, it reared its ugly head. Sounds like a diesel for the first couple minutes of operation when it is dead cold. Most everybody agrees it's not dangerous, but I have to admit - I just don't like it.
