Rear End Gear Help, Please

Rear End Gear Help, Please
Well we started looking into something to do for the 98 Vette. We were thinking of going with a torque converter or rear end gears for this year. But i think we are leaning more to the gears now.
My question is where can i get a gear swap kit? I believe the car has 2.73s in there stock being an auto? What would be a good gear to go too, i was thinking maybe a 4.10 but idk if that would be to much? Maybe a 3.73. or 3.90? And what brand of gears should we go with hear?
Also i know the speedo will be off quite a bit after any gear swap, so how should we go about fixing that? What are our options? Tuner? Anything else?
Sorry for all the questions just want to get this right the first time and get everything i need to complete. Thanks for any help!

I forget what the standard gear was in a C5 A4, maybe it was 2.73. But the (factory) upgrade gear was a 3.15, so you might have that as well.
Either way, I'd do a stall before gears, especially if you have the 3.15s. IMO.

3.73's for an auto.
Someone with tuning software is the only way to fix the speedo afterwards.
I would rather do the gears now and then match the converter with the cam or whatever mods you do down the road.

yes, this is what i was thinking, after a few things are done to it then get a stall to make it work for the mods i already have, that way i dont have to get it re-stalled.

Do a search to see what the RPO codes are for C5 rears and then look on DS door to see what you have. Or jack the rear up and count DS rotaions vs. one complete rotation of the tire. A piece chalk is all you need. Speaking from experience in F-bods a 3.23 to 3.73 gear swap is only generally worth a .10 gain on your 1/4 ET so you will get a much more dramatic gain with a stall prolly in the .4-.5 range. A 2.73 with a stall is soggy though so in that case gear may be better but otherwise a stall gets my vote.

Gear swaps are pretty expensive on C5s from what I remember, you'll get a lot more bang for the buck from a TC. And if it's looser than you like, you can always do the gear later.

In my search for upgraded c5 rear gear sets, they arent really around. I see more cases where shops will sell you the whole set up and you return yours for a core. It has been a few years and things may have changed, check with the sponsors----->
