Default Cam question

Looking to buy a cam at some point. First off I am no where near mechanically awesome enough to put in a cam, so I will have to have someone do it for me. How much would it cost to have a shop do it for me? Second would I need to buy anything else along with the cam? And third what size cam do you think I should have with the setup that I have?

no clue how much it will cost to have a shop do it my dad wa a mechanic growing up so ive never taken a car to a shop for anything but tires, but i would say prolly around a grand but varies greatly per shop

you will need to buy springs in accordance with your cam and a crank bolt im pretty sure the shop could get all the gaskets unless you really wanted to yourself

are you putting the headers on yourself?

Most likely you will need new push rods as well. Look around at the different vendors webs sites and look for a "cam kit" and as far as size, that has to be up to you. Search this site for info, there is a lot of great info on here and good luck.

Depends on the size of the cam. I'd say anything over .550 lift or 220 duration you'd need a pretty decent tune. Otherwise, I think you can get away with a mail-order. Also, consider that some of the bigger shops are more familiar with popular cams and could give you a mail-order tune based on the mods you have. Then again, every car is different... Just my $0.02.
