Default Buying a Cam Need Suggestions

Ok ive got basic intake and exhaust and am wanting a cam, i havent decided what intake manifold to use yet, im debating on the 85/85 BBK SSI or just running an LS6 with stock TB, so for cam only what would be my best bet for the highest HP numbers, also how come i dont see anybody running the SLP Cam? Im really interested in a Futral cam and i want the rough idle but am open to any other brands i just want something thats known to make power.

so after months of research ive decided the cam for me is the TSP Torquer V2 from what ive seen people with basic bolt ons are seeing big numbers with this cam, after i do it and headers a stall will be next in line.

I went V.2 also. What lsa did you decide on tho? i really wanted to keep some power under the curve and thought it might do better than a MS3 since i'm still running an auto and didn't want to compromise a ton of idle and low throttle application.

If i had to do it again tho i might have spent the time to upgrade to a dual spring so i could run the Torquer V.3 with piece of mind. I've heard it picks up more power everywhere compared to the V.2

stall before cam.......long tubes first, stall second, cam third.

and ls6 intake>bbk

I don't know what others have to say but my opinion is don't get too big of a cam. I didn't put this MS4 in this engine, I bought it like that but I'm pretty restricted as far as heads go unless I fly cut my pistons.

yeah do the headers and stall first. if you do a cam swap might as well get some heads put on IMO. Since you are tearing it down make it worth while on the swap

doesnt make much sense really...... only thing close to the ehads your removing is the valve covers, to swap heads youd have to pull the intake mainfold off as well, and if its a stock ls1 intake youd have to upgrade to at least an ls6.

I was just saying that because he was wanting a new intake also why not get new heads and gaskets since your already opening up the motor for the cam swap. just makes sense to me to it all once so you don't have to tear it open again later.

^^^^^ This^^^^^^

Then call Geof @ Engine Power Systems and get him to design you a cam. Actually you will fill out a sheet of mods and goals on his website and then he will call you to further discuss what you want.....

His lobes make power but are easy on valvetrain componets.

One his cams is going in the 403 HKE is building me right now..... At least I hope Erik has started on it haha.......

I ordered the 114 lsa also although looking back would have gotten the 112lsa. I have mine idling at 650 and its fine, would have chosen the 112 for more midrange now.

And A4 with no stall at the moment I know i should have done stall before hand but wanted the top end seeing as i how i end up in a lot of roll races with the friends. But i have one on order right now so it's all good.
