Default what to expect

I have a 2000 trans am. The 1st time at track was a dismal 15.30 @ 90mph. The car runs fine, feels strong on the road, and gets 28mpg. It was not spinning the tires. The car is completely stock with 100,000 miles. Any suggestions as what to do to improve performance would be appreciated. I thought these went mid 13s at low 100s stock. It is an automatic. There are no codes showing up on computer.

Are you racing up-hill and against the wind or something ?? No dtc's ?? You may have a problem if thats the best you ran or your DA is 10,000 . Maybe clogged cat converter, fuel filter or bad fuel pump ??

I will add myself to the group of people that say something is very, very wrong with your car. Those times are about what you can expect from a good running 3.8L V6 F-body.

Wow, that's extremely good MPG for an A4 that's running poorly enough to be down about 100 horsepower based on your trap speeds. Is that 100% highway driving for 28mpg?

They do. ET isn't as important of a factor because traction can vary so much from car to car, but trap speed for any stock LS1 should always be above 100mph. The normal range for a stock LS1 (depending on trans type, weather, elevation, etc.) is about 103 to 108, with most cars falling somewhere in the middle of that.

Even if you're racing in Denver, those numbers are extremely low for even a stock LS1.

Are you sure its a trans am and not a firebird..? Seriously, thats a very bad time, something isnt right somewhere. It's odd that you have no codes showing also, maybe like.. 2 cyl. aren't working or something but you would have a code then. Either way something is very wrong or that is not a trans am lol

You might have lost 2 pistons somewhere. . . Or left your ASR on.

Wow thats terrible. I hope to god you didnt get ripped by some used car salesman into buying a 6 cyl. and thought it was a real trans am. Pop the hood first before doing anything else and make sure you have an LS1

Either the car is a V6 with Trans Am badges, or the trans is slipping bad under WOT. Anything else serious enough to reduce power that much would toss a code.

Most LS1s trap close to that in the 1/8th. Get it fixed.

My STOCK A4 Trans Am, that im positive has a LS1 in it ran a 13.6...somethings not right bro, did you sleep at the tree or hit the brakes early?

Anyway I'm Subscribed, this could turn out to be funny and bad at the same time if hes got a 6er instead of a V8, lol. I hope you don't guy cause that would SUCK.

thanks for all the input. I thought these ran much better than this. It is an ls1. I've changed fuel filter and will check the fuel pressure. It does seem to hesitate on gear changes something horrible. I wasn't sure if this was something common or computer pulling power to save parts or something. The hesitation is accutally worse at part throttle. I was thinking about cutting off the cats to see if that helps and changing the plugs and wires. When i was at the track we ran it with air filter in and out and it didn't make any difference. I also tried traction control on and off with no change. The 60' was 2.30. It was very disappointing but I believe it has to be something simple. It runs too smooth. Once i get it sorted out, I am thinking about flowtech full length headers , o/r y pipe and flowmaster cat back. Are mail order chips good with these cars? What do you guys run? What is the usual lifespan of these transmissions? Again, thanks for the input and any advice is appreciated.
