Ok, this is going to sound stupid, but this is why I keep posting in the newbie tech section, lol. What is a lid? I keep hearing people refer to this. Im not really sure what it is. Anyone want to explain what it is?

Performance gains are nearly identical between the different brands that are available. Somewhere around 5 hp.
I believe the most popular is probably the SLP Lid. They used to have fitment issues, but SLP must have revamped the manufacturing process. A little over a year ago those issues seemed to have disappeared.
Anyways, the purpose of an aftermarket air lid is to increase air flow into the intake track of the motor.
The factory lid has baffles and other Noise, Harshness, & Vibration (NVH) Cancelling devices that act as a restriction to air flow.
An aftermarket lid eliminates the NVH items from the lid allowing better flow and most the time resulting in a little more noise from under the hood. But being a Performance-Minded-Enthusiest this is considered an added benefit. LOL
Thats a "lid" in a nut-shell. (Unless you were talking about another kind of "lid". Inwhich case, I have no idea what you're talking about. *wink* *wink*)

Ok so here is another question regarding lids. I saw that the ws6 store has the 98 mm slp lid and then a 104 mm fast toys lid. Can I use the 104 mm on an otherwise stock intake or will it not fit?

Theres are a few reputable shops around here that will no longer install them because they say there fitment is real inconsistant. This was a sometime back so im not sure if pacesetter adressed this. Then theres a ton of guys that never had any problems w/ fitment at all...as far as personal experience I had them on my old LT1 and the quality & fitment was ****.

I have done 3 different LS-1 cars and the last set went in smooth as all hell and it took me 6 hrs on the ground from start too finish and that was taking out the air pump also. The only thing they could improve is to move the drivers side one down a little @ the end so its not so close too the floor. But there are a few little trick to learn so they go in easy.

mine went in pretty easy, but i did them on separate days because something came up so i cant give you a time. i did my install without help, so getting the gaskets to stay where i wanted was the hardest part, which isnt even hard. definitely not too hard for a new guy. i also recommend doing plugs at the same time.

Anybody know what the millimeter measurement is measuring on an air lid? I saw an SLP lid that doesn't specify millimeters, then I saw a 98mm SLP lid, and I also saw a 104mm fast toys lid on the ws6 store website. Can anyone tell me what the difference is, and which one will fit on a stock LS1 without buying anything else?
