Default SLP Loudmouth 1?

Ok so i have an 02 z28. i want the loudest exhaust i can get for not to much money. i have heard a ton of things about this exhaust including a million videos. some sound awesome and some just sound ok. does anyone know if the loud mouth is 3" piping or is it 2.5? Also i dont know if i want to keep my cats or not. A sticker is 60$ once every 2 years..THAT i can afford lol

I am open to suggestions also. thanks guys

The SLP LM1 is full 3" piping. The muffler is a straight through
resonator, so it's really similar to running straight pipe.
IMO, It sounds decent with cats, but raspy & annoying without cats.

Edit: The I-pipe is actually 2.75" at the Y-pipe connection.
But it increases to 3".

it is a loud exhaust, but it really doesnt have any tone. thats something thats hard to tell over internet videos, have you actually heard one?

you may like it but still its one that i would like to hear before i bought it, personally i think magnaflow or hooker would be a better choice. then if you want loud get a $30 cutout and add to it.

i had lm1 on my car and it sounded great with cats but i recently did cam, headers, and removed the cats... lets just say i couldnt even have a conversation with the passenger with out screaming at eachother.. i swaped the loud mouth out for a borla xr1. the borla is still loud outside the car and has a great tone to it not to mention its a million time quiter in side the car

thanks guys but what do you think about this? on the car now i believe is the TSP 2.75" piping rumbler exhaust. no muffler just has a resonator on it just like the LM1. It sounds good dont get me wrong, just bored of it i guess...i heard its the same thing as the loudmouth just without rasp? anyway i was thinking that i have a perfectly good exhaust on there why not just get a good set of headers and an offroad Y for around the same price. Anybody heard the rumbler exhaust with long tubes and an offroad y?

well i think its the same exact set up as the loudmouth just a different resonator.

I have Catted Macs w/ a LM1...people tell me it loud but it doesnt seem so bad in the car...The cats take care of most of the dreaded drone. If I could i would run the setup w/ a ory.

I have an LM1 with long tubes. It is really loud. I believe it's the loudest catback you can get for these cars. Everyone that's gone for a ride comments on how loud it is.

Having said that, I love it that way.

Longtubes, Off road Y and an Electric Cutout. Makes great power. LOUD, but if u keep your stock exhaust with the cutout u can go quiet if you want to.

The LM 1 is one of the most aggressive sounding cat-back kits you'll find. It's VERY raspy without cats so be ready for that. I imagine your Rumbler sounds very similar with a little less rasp.

I like the tone you get from a Borla, Hooker or Magnaflow however they lack in volume (in my opinion). The fix for that is long tubes + ORY + electric cutout + catback. I only partially open the cutout -- adds volume however you still get some flow through the catback, giving you tone instead of just "loud" and "louder".

If you ever plan to go with long tube headers and no cats, I highly suggest you do NOT go with either LM. They sound horrible once you add headers/ory. Loud yeah, but its the annoying loud.

i stopped reading after you said "i want the loudest." loud doesnt equal good sound. you must have the ricer mentality.

you want the loudest exhaust? buy some longtubes and run open headers. if you want a good sounding, decently loud exhaust, GMMG.

LM1 is just ok but yea if you get the headers the LM will have to go. even during cruising the LM is too loud, you can't hear your radio, people talking, your own thoughts, its useless. Idk to me, theres no point in having a really loud car if the sound can't back up the performance. Although there's nothing wrong with looking for exhaust that'll give you a deep burble over the stock exhaust.

For you guys with lm1/lt's/ory why dont you add cats. It should def tone it down alot.

Cats are not the best solution. Bullet mufflers are a better choice, they cost significantly less and won't rob any power.
