Poly Motor/Tranny Mounts good thing or not so much?
I was considering putting on some Poly motor/tranny mounts (Prothane Motion Controls) but from time to time I hear through word of mouth mixed feelings on them. Just curious what you TA guys think and if you like them or dislike. Do they add on a lot more vibration/noise? Thanks!

I have them in my car. I had to replace them since the stock parts were worn out. The poly ones definetly vibrate more than stock, however you have high performance mods in your future you should upgrade to them. Since the car is a muscle car in all the vibration doesn't bother me and it doesnt vibrate that bad. I don't dd this car but you could. Hope this helps you man.

Would just replacing with a stock style be just as good? No idea on cost... How about just headers and exhaust... or would that not really be worthwhile? I just wanna know before I get in there

I did poly motor/tranny mounts all at once and felt a horrible vibration while goin through the gears. Took the tranny mount out and stuck the factory rubber back in and its smooth as glass again. I've heard of some have the same problem and others didn't, so I guess it's a hit or miss thing. Poly motor mounts are definately worth it. Mine is cammed and theres no vibration just a whole lot of shakin goin on from the cam (overexaggeration, it's not to shaky) Which never gets old might I add.

On a street car I would probably just put a new set of GM mount in. The poly mounts transfer enough vibration and noise in where I would start to get annoyed with it. However, if you have some crazy loud exhaust you might not hear it or notice it but there will definitely be some added vibration. If it is more of a track car then yeah the poly mounts are the way to go. It really just comes down to your preference.

i haven't personally seen this happen but i have heard of higher hp cars breaking the trans case when using a factory rubber mount with poly motor mounts... i have poly all around on my car and it is as quiet as stock... my car is an m6 though, most of the complaints of noise/vibration come from the a4 guys... you can also grind the 2 polyurethane tabs down almost to the metal plate and don't use the extra metal plate that comes in the package... that should get rid of your noise/vibration
