Default crankshaft?

The Ls1 I'm rebuilding has a 100,000 crankshaft in it. When does a person need to change out their crankshaft? When does a person need an aftermarket crankshaft? Where would you find an aftermarket crankshaft?

You need a machine shop to check it for excessive wear on the rod or main journals. Chances are if it needs anything you can turn it .010" and run a +.010 bearing and you will be fine. The stock cranks will take a good amount of abuse so chances are you won't need an aftermarket crank. However, if you want to put one in, we can definitely get you fixed up with anything you need for your build.

How much abuse? I mean I'm going to be pulling over 450+ Hp and close to that in torque. I'm also running a stock crank with 100,000 miles.

Haha!!! That aint squat for these cranks. The LS series of cranks are the best ever offered in a GM car and have held up to over 800rwhp....

For 99.9% of us the only reason to go to a forged crank is to stroke it......
