Default belts and pulleys

Hello, I've been lurking here for a long time but I'm just now starting to post opinions and in this case a question:

Whenever I start my car i hear a noise coming from the belts, this noise irritates me very much because it takes away the badassness of my car by making it sound like a bucket/pos/honda (teehee). I was told last year that the noise comes from my belts and pulleys, I don't feel like paying $380 for them to swap all of that out, soooooo....

how difficult would this be to do, and does anybody know where I can get a write-up? I have a little wrenching experience but I've never gone into anything like this. Thanks alot!

If it's heard when shutting down the engine, it could be your cooling fans.

Replacing the belts does not cost that much and it is a really simple job. I am certainly no mechanic and I did it myself without taking anything off the car except the old belts. It didn't take very long either.

My car used to squeak on cold starts until it got warm, but new belts fixed that. You might not even need to do pulleys. Try the belts yourself first, then see if anything else needs to be done.

Yep, change the belts before worrying about the pullies. No need to make it a bigger or more expensive project than it might need to be.

follow that up to step 3 to remove the belt... it is extremely easy and should not take more then 5 mins to do. If you want to replace the idler pulley you can follow those steps. It is also very easy to do.

Also you might as well replace the a/c drive belt too. The main belt needs to be off first before you can remove the a/c belt so this would be a good time to do both belts.

Get you a Gatorback Serpintine belt from Advance Auto. That got rid of all my belt noise. All the other ones I've tried have had that Squeeky noise in the mornings when the dews still out.

I had a horrible squeel a few months ago, changed all my belts, ended up being a bad power steering pump. Fairly easy start with belts then if not figure out which pulley it is.
