Default Cleaning Block

Well i bought a short-block and the bad part is the downtime of buying all the parts to throw on at once so I'm saving about $3,000.

Anyways in my downtime of the month I'm saving up i want to clean the block so it looks all nice.

Any suggestions on a cleaner to be used i.e. carb cleaner or anything recommended?

Thanks,
Tommy.

Aluminum...

I kinda just want to scrub it seeing if i shoot the block with water when the oil pan is not on wont be a great idea.

Can engine brite gel just be applied?

Or is it sprayed and wet down?

Just got to your parts store and get some engine degreaser and a stiff brush. Let it sit for a bit with the degreaser on and then rub any real dirty spots with the brush and spray it off. Repeat if needed. Make sure you put something on the bores like WD40 to keep them from rusting when you are done.
