o ok you meant for bracket racing...i thought you just meant they group cars at the track into transmission classes...its too bad they dont do that in more places for bracket racing, probably makes the competition pretty good.

Few things in life are more fun than redlining 4th gear at 135 and knowing that you still have two gears to go.
: )
I love my M6, especially for road racing and autocross.
M6 for me!

Your friend needs to stop smoking rope... My buddy has a 1996 Viper GTS and it will own C5s in handling. I can get him straight-line, even N/A, but that car really shines in high-speed stability through turns. The GTS may be a bit much for Auto-X, but is easily above the Vette insofar as track stuff...

Lol but then again few things are less fun in life then seeing a cops lights behind you while your redlining 4th at 135mph with two gears to go. Not sure about other states but in Illinois they consider that reckless driving or something like that and you get arrested, car towed, bail set, ect. Not like your gonna do hard time for that but it's not as easy as a $150 dollar ticket and have a nice day either.

Besides A4's can hit 160 in fourth. It's not like we can't hit the top speed governor and you guys can. Personally I don't see why anyone would want to go that fast anyway unless he/she was a perfessional driver and on a track. I assume you meant doing 135 mph on a road course or something like that so I'm not flaming you. You just left that statement so wide open I didn't want some of the teenage LS1 M6 owners to read this and get a very bad idea without understanding the potential consequences can be very severe. Sometimes even fatal.

I just bought a SS with an M6 and did so because of my personal experience with the 4l60e. I burnt up a stock one at 24K, had a "race" built one done by a local shop and it lasted a month, I ordered an FLP IV and it lasted 3 weeks. Now this may not be the norm but after spending over $3k in autos I sold the car.......

Vipers handling limits are the driver mainly...

you can't really expect the baddest street car under 6 figures (non-exotic) to be able to be pushed to its limits well by just anyone.

a car that is easy to handle is different from a car that handles well ata racetrack.

Yes, alot guys that went to an auto from a stick skipped the 4L60E all together and went to a Turbo 350 or Powerglide. Thats why I said if you want to be a track car skip the p.o.s. 4L60E, get the M6, enjoy it, and if you want it to be a track car go Turbo 350, depends on how serious of a track car that you want, otherwise the 4L60E will hold.
Overdrive is a nice option to have for the highway, but the Turbo 350 would be a better choice for a track car than a 4L60E will.

Peace,
Craig.

I've driven this Viper twice (415rwhp). And I will drive it again when the weather changes. I drove it on a winding road but I wasn't able to open it up much. I've never driven a Corvette but the Viper handled much better than my Z28. I liked it a lot. I'm not sure about the '*** end' thing.

yea ive heard that viper drivers have to really pay attention and work to keep the back end from ending up where the front end should be.
