Question Oil guage twitching and noise from rear?

A few things have been annoying me about my 01 trans am. Two quick questions. First, the oil guage is twitching from 38 to 45 at idle when the car is warmed up and has been driven a little. When I'm driving normal it stays at 42 and under load its at 65. Its only when it's idling it twitches crazy between 38-45. Second, I'm hearing a light scraping noise coming from the rear of the car when I'm coasting it almost sounds like its coming from the wheels. Brakes have 80% life left so its not them. Any idea whats causing these problems?

Oil pressure sending unit might be going bad.

The oil pressure twitch is probably just the gauge, not the actualy oil pressure itself moving. When my car is warm my oil pressure gauge will flicker slightly around 40PSI, if you look closely you can see it.

The noise in the rear could be your parking brake shoes. They are inside the rotor hats. Might want to check them out.

I'll take a look. Thanks man, appreciate the info. Does it hurt anything if I'm driving it if theirs something wrong with the brake shoes?

You could damage the brake shoes themselves or the inside hat of the rotor. Thats about it.

well its been doing this for over a month and I havent noticed really any changes in braking or its performance just the lingering noise. Guess I'm just gonna have to look into it.

I wouldn't worry too much about a twitching guage. If you are worried about it buy a test guage.
