Default Engine Fluid

Hey guis I just bought this 98 camaro v-8 and was told to change the fluids on it and swap the timing belt as well.

Question is what is best kind of belt to use and which type of fluid should I get. I heard III fluid is best, how many bottles does it take?

Where to start.....

There is no timing "belt". It's a timing chain on these engines, and you don't need to worry about swapping it unless you've got super high miles (at least 200k+, but even then it's not required) or you're planning to do a cam swap and want to upgrade while you're in there.

As for fluids, what do you mean "III fluid"? What is III in referance to? 3rd or three? But 3rd/three what? I don't know which fluid you're asking about. Oil, trans, diff, brakes, clutch, power steering, coolant?????

For some reason I think this thread is a reference to the fail of a thread found here

If not, then the only fluids you really have to worry about is oil and transmission fluid, which require 5w-30 or 10w-30/Dexron III fluid, respectively. There are more, but these are the basics.

Haha. I read that link posted above. I see where this brilliant thread came from now. Don't think we need another 10 pages of bullshit.
