Default Tune???

if i do the air/egr delete and put ls6 intake and headers ORY and slp, will i need to tune it right away?

No the car will still run fine, it will just have an SES light on until you get some of the codes deleted by a tuner.

you won't need it right away but you could see very small gains without a tune. i've heard people say they put on headers and intake and didn't notice any gain until they got a tune.
it might run great after with good gains, or it might not. a tune is always a safe bet tho.

i didnt feel anything after my header install until i got my tune then it was a night and day difference. it will still run fine just not up to its full potential

That has more to do with WOT timing adjustments then anything else. My car was one of the few rare examples that it was running lean when I went from stock to having a SLP Lid, Dynatech SuperMAXX kit (headers, catted Y pipe) mated to a Corsa and that was it.

AIR/EGR & ORY are not anything thats going to affect the motors AFM or timing. I wouldn't expect the intake swap to affect it's calculations much either. The real issue is your SES light will throw codes for the AIR & CATS which still will not affect the motors performance, but may cover any other codes the motor may be throwing that could be important.

Now having said that, any ls1 is better off with a tune. I just had the timing advanced on mine and the shifts adjusted on my built A4 and couldn't be happier with $150 i dropped on it... First pass I made at the track almost washed the rear end out from under me on the shift into 2nd. I kept the car under control, but not my bowels.

what no one tells you on here is be careful who tunes your car cause i bought my camaro pretty recently and the owner said he had a tune done but he had had it tuned wrong so mpg were like driving a semi truck i would go through half a tank in less than 10 miles

mine runs pretty good without a tune. want to get one but the local shop is charging an arm, leg and an eye. its no joke

frost dose mail order tunes for $125 some times.most ls1 are a little rich from the factory.better breathing,intake and headers will lean it out a little.I would like to see the AFR of a untuned ls1 with above mentioned mods.

Probably almost fat enough for nitrous a timing adjust is likely it for a header/intake car with a small shot.

Once I do LT's, true dual X, and maybe a ported TB I am getting tuned and leaving it. The factory tune is a bit too rich and going to those mods, and leaning it out a bit, I would suspect that the gas mileage would stay about the same, and the HP would go up about 25 or so. The balance of the AF will be a direct resultant of fuel consumption and power.

I would say that a tune isn't necessary bc the AF differences are not goin to make or break the car, but I imagine that without a tune, you are just hoping your car is going to magically fall into the sweet spot on it's own... Doubt it. At least get a tuned PCM from frost or someone. Still not gonna be 100% for ur car, but better than the stock PCM.
